Unlocking Trade Between Norway and Tunisia

This week, we had the pleasure of co-hosting the Norway–Tunisia Business Forum together with the Tunisian Embassy, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from both countries. The event highlighted both the growing interest and opportunities for collaboration across key sectors — from energy and agriculture, to organic cosmetics and consumer goods.
The Key Takeaways From Our Speakers:
Lars Erik Nordgaard (Ministry of Trade) provided a clear overview of the Norway–Tunisia Free Trade Agreement and highlighted where the agreement opens up new opportunities to grow bilateral trade.
Raoudha Jerbi Abbes from CEPEX showcased Tunisia’s strategic advantages: a young, skilled workforce, competitive costs, and a strong gateway to African and European markets.
Ann-Mari Lillejord from Scatec ASA shared how Tunisia’s renewable energy potential, and ease of collaboration have made it a strategic partner in green energy development.
Sine Brynestad Stokke and Linn Stokke from Elm Organics highlighted the rising demand in the Nordics for organic, ethically sourced beauty products—many of which Tunisian producers are well positioned to supply.
Petter Henrik Gathen from BAMA Gruppen AS explained how Tunisian agri-food producers can meet Norway’s standards for quality, sustainability, and reliability in sourcing going forward.
The forum also gave participants a chance to experience premium Tunisian olive oils, agri-food delicacies, and organic cosmetic products—highlighting why Tunisia is an exciting partner for future collaboration. The road ahead is full of potential, and we look forward to seeing partnerships deepen in the years ahead.
In a effort to strengthen economic and trade relations between Norway and Tunisia, representatives from the Oslo Chamber of Commerce, the Tunisian Embassy in Norway, Innovation Norway, and the Centre de Promotion des Exportations de la Tunisie (CEPEX) came together for a meeting in Oslo. The dialogue focused on identifying new opportunities for bilateral collaboration, with a special emphasis on innovation, sustainable development, and trade diversification. Tunisia, with its strategic location and growing startup ecosystem, offers significant potential for Norwegian businesses looking to expand into North Africa. At the same time, Norway’s expertise in renewable energy, technology, and maritime industries presents valuable opportunities for Tunisian exporters and entrepreneurs.
