Internet Governance Forum 2025 

Welcome to the 20th Anniversary of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) at NOVA Spektrum in Lillestrøm!

The IGF will be taking place in Lillestrøm, Norway on 23-27 June 2025 in a hybrid format, both onsite and virtually, under the theme Building Digital Governance Together.  

Convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations as a forum for multi-stakeholder dialogue and cooperation, the IGF brings together a wide range of stakeholder groups to consider public policy issues relating to the Internet, information and communications technology (ICT) and digital technologies. ICC’s Business Action to Support the Information Society (BASIS) is the primary source for business input to IGF’s discussions and has been the de facto focal point for business since the IGF was launched in 2006.

This will be the twentieth IGF, reflecting two decades of global dialogue and collaboration on digital policy. It also comes at a pivotal time as the international community prepares for the 20-year 2025 review of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20), which will assess and potentially renew the IGF’s mandate.

In response to this year’s IGF themes, global business firmly believes in the multistakeholder approach as an enabler of effective Internet governance and digital policy discussions. It fosters inclusivity, legitimacy, collaboration and innovation, and must be upheld to:

• Expand connectivity and ensure meaningful access for everyone;
• Promote a globally connected, stable, unfragmented Internet;
• Enable data free flows with trust to support a truly global digital economy;
• Increase efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and fight cybercrime; and
• Foster the development of trustworthy artificial intelligence for good.

ICC BASIS is hosting an event in collaboration with the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) which is open to all IGF participants.
