Embrace Norway – July EditionÂ

oslo

Norway is at its summer peak in July.ÂThis is the month when you can truly feel the warmth of summer all day long and enjoy long, light evenings in a relaxed atmosphere. Most Norwegians take their vacation during the last three weeks of July, also known asÂfellesferie (collective holiday). Offices grow quieter, cities slow down, and nature becomes the country’s main playground.Â

When nature becomes our playgroundÂ

Norway is known for its majestic landscapes, and in summer the country comes alive- both in the mountains and along the coast. Many Norwegians spend their holidays at their cabins, but you don’t need to own one to experience cabin life. Cabins can be rented all across the country, whether as a destination in itself or as a stop along the way.DNT.no is a great place to start.Â

You also don’t need to travel far from Oslo to enjoy the outdoors. The Oslofjord offers plenty of options, from ferry rides to nearby islands to kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply taking a refreshing swim on a hot summer day.Â

July is the time of year when Norwegians truly live by the water. Beaches fill up, and the only traffic you may notice is out on the sea. Perhaps it’s the urge to soak up as much light as possible after the long winter darkness, or simply the joy of warmer days—but whatever the reason, summer in the Nordics is something special to experience.Â

Across Norway—and especially in Oslo—July is festival season. This year, it is also World Cup season, with many venues showing games during extended opening hours. Outdoor concerts, food festivals, and cultural events take place throughout the city and surrounding areas.ÂVisit Oslo is the best place to explore what’s happening and plan your adventures.Â

We also recommend enjoying seasonal treats such as Norwegian strawberries, often said to be the best in the world. Other fruits are plentiful too, perfect for enjoying while they are at their peak. Outdoor grilling becomes a favourite activity, and a picnic in the park, on a forest trail, or by the water is always a great way to make the most of the long summer days.Â
