Navigating Trade with DNB

This morning, we kicked off the day with a breakfast event in collaboration with DNB in their offices at Barcode.

The event brought together participants from a range of banks, law firms, embassies, and the private sector. As with all our events, we place great value on creating a strong meeting arena and opportunities for networking. We therefore begin with 30 minutes of informal mingling, accompanied by a light breakfast and coffee.

The theme, “Navigating Trade,” focused on taking the pulse of the current global trade landscape, while also exploring what lies ahead.

We opened the session with Senior Researcher Arne Melchior from the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). He provided an introduction to the current global trade landscape, shaped by President Donald Trump, his tariffs, and the United States’ previous role as a leader of liberal trade worldwide.

Following Melchior, DNB’s own Kelly Chen took the stage. She is an economist at DNB Carnegie, specializing in the Chinese economy, commodities, and macroeconomic analysis. Chen delivered an insightful presentation on China’s role in the global economy, how it may influence future trade structures, and its implications for Europe. She concluded with an update on the current trade situation in light of the tensions involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

At our events, we always value an engaged audience and make sure to set aside time for participants to ask questions to our speakers-and today was no exception. We thank our attendees for their thoughtful questions, which contributed to a rich and engaging discussion.
