Strengthens the Ties Between Norway and Ghana
Yesterday, the Oslo Chamber of Commerce participated in a meeting with the Embassy of Ghana and had the pleasure of meeting H.E. Ambassador Abigail Kwashi. The meeting was highly insightful and focused on potential collaboration between the Embassy and the Oslo Chamber of Commerce, as well as on future trade opportunities between Norway and Ghana.
The Norwegian Government has designated Ghana as one of its key partner countries in Africa, reflecting a commitment to long-term strategic cooperation.
Norway and Ghana are also both members of the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy (Ocean Panel), a global initiative of world leaders established in 2018. The Panel aims to sustainably manage 100 % of ocean areas under national jurisdiction by implementing Sustainable Ocean Plans that balance ocean protection, sustainable production, and equitable prosperity.
In addition, Norway and Ghana collaborate through the “Fish for Development” program, funded by Norad and implemented in partnership with Ghana’s Fisheries Commission. The program seeks to strengthen Ghana’s capacity to manage and regulate marine fisheries and aquaculture sustainably. Key initiatives include developing a science-based framework for aquaculture, improving fish health management, and enhancing monitoring and regulation of the sector. The collaboration emphasizes building trust and transparency among authorities, industry, and research institutions, with the ultimate goal of promoting sustainable development and economic growth in Ghana.
