Australia and EU Seal Major Trade Deal

In late March, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, visited Australia’s capital, Canberra. There, she joined Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to sign a new trade agreement.

The deal is the result of several years of negotiations and is expected to boost EU exports to Australia by more than 30%. In addition, the parties agreed to eliminate tariffs on 99% of Australian imports of EU goods.
